We have begun educating our nondisabled peers on ways to increase their ability to communicate with our students who have complex communication needs. We believe strongly in acceptance and inclusion. Many of our students require multimodal communication which includes, but is not limited to, verbal language, using assistive technology devices, gestures and signs. In the next few weeks, our Assistive Technology Team as well as our Speech and Language Team will be doing training/education in our general education classrooms so that our nondisabled peers are able to engage more with our students who have difficulty communicating. Hampstead Elementary is committed to ensuring that all voices' are heard.
